Why We Must Hate Hate
Well, leading up to my first presidential election in the US and folks from BOTH major parties are casually comparing their opponents to Nazis. Nazis!! Significant segments of both parties say that if the other party wins, it will be "the end of America as we know it". This is insane.

The use of demeaning & dehumanizing language & terms combined with fear-mongering is being normalized in public discourse -- and this is designed to prevent the normal empathetic response we have to all human suffering. This is terrible.
Using and tolerating this type of rhetoric lowers our inhibition towards hate-based violence. We have to call it out and resist it in our own sociopolitical camps where we have the most influence.
Staying connected to the humanity of the people whom we disagree with is at the heart of being peacemakers. Hate can't heal or persuade, even if you're in the right. Compassion and justice go hand-in-hand.
Staying connected to the humanity of the people whom we disagree with is at the heart of being peacemakers.
If we love human flourishing, we must hate hate.
